Presidents Message

Tri-Cities Chapter Members,

I have been involved in our local chapter for the past 4 years as a Board member and the experience has been truly rewarding on many levels. I have been able to further my professional learning and meet many high caliber professionals. Watching and being a part of our chapter’s growth towards expanding its impact on our members and the community has been inspiring, which makes my current role as President even more thrilling.

In light of our country’s economic situation and the massive emergence of technologies being leveraged, staying abreast of the changes that are impacting our profession and keeping our skills current is important.  Membership with the IMA offers many opportunities through learning, networking, and a vast amount of data sources that provide information exclusive to Chapter members. Our goals for the year are focused on creating superior member value, increasingly exposing the benefits of the CMA designation, and growing our membership. There will also be exciting changes aligned for this year as we focus on community outreach, involvement with students at CBC and WSU Tri-Cities, and helping our members further through professional development.  To put these plans in action, we have an excellent Board lined up for the 2014-2015 year and I look forward to working with them to continue to bring the same quality of professional education, services, and networking opportunities that our members have come to anticipate from their membership.

Congratulations to our outgoing President, Dawnelle Donovan-Copeman for leading our Chapter through yet another successful year. Along with our outgoing President, I would also like to thank the 2013/2014 Board for their contributions and commitment to the activities of our Chapter. The efforts of last year’s Chapter President & Board have allowed a smooth transition into a new year and will continue to be extremely important as we strive to participate in the Annual IMA Chapter Competition.

I also want to thank all of our IMA Chapter Members, as your continued membership is the reason our Board works hard to provide the best possible educational and networking opportunities available. We currently have over 100 members and I am happy to report that our membership continues its steady pattern of growth. Every time one of our members attends a Chapter meeting, passes a section of the CMA exam, or attends an online seminar hosted by IMA National, we gain points towards divisional Chapter rankings nationwide.  In addition, simply by inviting individuals from your company to attend our educational meetings and talking to other accountants in your professional circle about the benefits of IMA membership, you are playing an important part in helping our Chapter sustain its growth. All factors taken into account truly show that this is a team effort.

In closing, I would like to thank you for the opportunity to serve as your Chapter President and would love to meet you and more of our members. Please join us at one of our educational meetings and introduce yourself to other members at your leisure. Feel free to bring a guest along to reap the benefits of networking and learning at our sessions. I welcome your feedback, suggestions, and ideas and look forward to another successful year.
